Darran has been in her role at the business software company since last July. Before that she spent five years at Sky, as director of brand and creative and then director of brand marketing for Sky Spain.
Before this she was at the Engine Group from 2007 to 2012, where she was client managing director for Sky, then a managing partner at WCRS.
Darran will start work at the price comparison site this month and report to chief marketing officer Mark Vile.
Vile said: “We have ambitious plans to build on our successes by creating a better connected digital ecosystem while retaining our brand competitive advantage, so experienced hires such as Liz will help us to reach these goals.”
Darran added: “Exciting times are ahead in the changing world of price comparison and there is a huge opportunity to drive further brand growth.”
Darran’s appointment comes during a period of change in the marketing departments of the sector. Last month, Comparethemarket ended its long-standing meerkat toy giveaway scheme to focus on its Meerkat Movies cinema ticket offer.
Last week, GoCompare announced it had hired TrinityMirror’s Zoe Harris, who will join later this year as chief marketing officer.
Moneysupermarket.com, meanwhile, announced in March it was parting ways with Mother, the agency behind its acclaimed “You’re so Moneysupermarket” campaign, saying it wanted to “reinvent” price comparison. It has held a pitch which is now down to two agencies: WCRS and Wieden & Kennedy.
